BIO

Luniah grew up in a Christian home, both parents being musicians in their local church. Mom played piano and sang, Dad was a drummer and ran sound.

Growing up Christian, Gospel music was all Luniah was exposed to. In the Christian world, ALL genres funnel through the same outlet. Pop, rock, country, blues, Latin, even hip-hop and rap… ALL playing on the same Christian radio station. Luniah’s Dad loved it ALL, so he had EVERYTHING, so Luniah learned to play everything. MOST of which were recorded by some of the greatest Nashville session drummers like Chris McHugh, Chad Cromwell, Steve Brewster, John & Mark Hammond, and Paul Liem to name a few.

Luniah’s Dad also being a drummer, had several drum instructional videos by Dave Weckle, Dennis Chambers, and others with Kenny Aronoff, Steve Smith, and Peter Erskin Which Luniah studied constantly. One day a friend gave Luniah a CD called “People who speak With Their Hands” by Zildjian Which introduced her to Tony Williams, Jon Bonham, Vinnie Colaiuta and many others.

At the age of 16, Luniah’s father was working a lot of overtime, preventing him from being able to play weeknight services and Luniah asked if she could sit in on the nights he missed. The next weeknight service, Luniah was the drummer. THE WHOLE NIGHT Luniah kept watching her mother to make sure she was paying attention and listening to the band. Needless to say, Luniah cut her teeth on improvisation and listening. It was never about the drums, it was always about the music.

To this day it’s still about the song and the vibe. It’s not about the drums, or any one singular instrument. It’s about the song and the emotion or “vibe” it was created to evoke. Feel and rhythmic motion is the foundation for everything Luniah plays. The song takes priority, 100% of the time.

Luniah has played for churches, cover bands, country bands, Latin bands, funk bands, DJ+Drummer acts, pop bands, rock bands, metal bands, and has been a touring drummer. The first time Luniah ever went into a studio to record with a band, the studio owner hired Luniah on the spot as his in-house session drummer. Luniah was also head drum instructor at Jim Chambers Music Box for 4 years. Luniah has played with Weapons of Anew, Sister Kill Cycle, and an award winning band, Formality, in Las Vegas.

Luniah Plays Sabian cymbals, Evans heads, Vic Firth sticks, 3 different kits – Tama, Pearl, and a 70’s Slingerland and uses a variety of snares. Luniah also has her own personal in-home studio for remote recordings and session work.
